    Madhuri Dixit is an Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood films. She is also known as the 'Dancing Diva' or 'Dhak Dhak girl' of Bollywood. She continues to rule millions of hearts with her lovely smile, gorgeous looks and superb dance moves. She made her acting debut with the film Abodh in 1984 but earned fame with the movie Tezaab in 1988. She has acted in approximately more than 66 films. She has been in hits like Ram Lakhan, 100 days, Khalnayak, Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Devdas and many more. She was last seen along with Juhi Chawla in the women oriented film Gulaab Gang.

    Biography

    Madhuri Dixit was born on May 15, 1967 in a Marathi-Brahmin family to Shankar and Snehlata Dixit. She attended Divine Child High School and later graduated from Mumbai University. From her childhood itself she had a passion for dance and from that very age she started to learn dancing. She is an accomplished Kathak dancer which also helped her to dance extraordinarily in films like 'Tezaab', 'Dil', 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' and several other superhits. She wanted to become a Micro-biologist and also pursued it from Parle College, Vile Parle (East), Bombay.

    Madhuri Dixit was also involved in playback singing for 'Devdas' and 'Wajood'. She has won 12 awards from constituting Filmare, Star Screen and Zee for her performance in movies. Madhuri was titled 'Actress of the Millennium' in 2000 and also has her name in 'Guinness Book of Records Millennium' version highest paid Indian actress. Ram Gopal Verma paid a tribute to her by making a film titled "Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon".



    Family

    Madhuri is a native of Mumbai, India. She was born in a Marathi-speaking Koknastha Hindu Brahman family to Shankar Dixit and Snehlata Dixit. She has two sisters Rupa and Bharati, and brother Ajit. 



    Career

    Madhuri made her acting debut in Rajshri Productions movie 'Abodh' in 1984 opposite Bengali actor, Tapas Paul. The film failed to be a hit but Madhuri earned positive reviews from critics. After going through many flops, she finally attained stardom from the lead role of 'Mohini' in N. Chandra's blockbuster "Tezaab" opposite Anil Kapoor and also became that year's highest grossing film.

    She has been the muse of famous Indian painter M.F. Hussain. He got so fascinated by Madhuri's role in 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' that he watched it 67 times. He made a painting series of her and in 2000 produced a film named 'Gaja Gamini' starring Madhuri, which was intended to be a tribute to Dhak Dhak girl herself. In 2007, he went to book entire theatre to see her comeback movie 'Aaja Nachle'. She has been the judge for Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Seasons 4, 5, 6 and 7



    Marriage/Husband

    The Dhak Dhak girl of bollywood, Madhuri Dixit broke millions of hearts when she got married to Dr. Sriram Madhav Nene, a Cardiovascular Surgeon on October 17, 1999. Sriram Madhav Nene was a surgeon in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A. After marriage Dixit moved to Denver, U.S. with her husband where he used to practice, for almost a decade. In October 2011, Madhuri again shifted back to her origin Mumbai along with Sriram and kids.


    Children

    Madhuri Dixit and Dr. Sriram Madhav Nene have two kids Arin (age: 12 years) born in March 2003 and Raayan (age: 10 years) born in March 2005.
