Fashion designer Arpita Mehta

Arpita Mehta , a talented girl is nothing but passionate about fashion. Realising her love for all things fashion, she didn’t let even her high science marks come in the way of making her dreams come alive.

 

Graduating in apparel manufacture and dress design from S.N.D.T University, she went to win the most glamorous designer of the year award in her graduating fashion show.

Not resting on her laurels, Arpita got an internship with one of Indias leading designers Manish Malhotra and learnt the ins and outs of fashion under him for two years.  

After a successful work experience, she started her own label Arpita Mehta. Describing her style as easy, fun, glamorous and fresh, the label concentrates on understated, attractive and detailed silhouettes.

Her collections comprise of contemporary ethnic as well as fusion ensembles largely focussing on intricate embroidery consisting of vibrant anchor threads and mirrorwork, used in innovative ways which make her clothes stand out and promise to get you lots of compliments. At Work

Fashion week allows us to reach out to a larger audience, which is otherwise difficult as a young designer. The morning of a show, I head to the venue, check that all the clothes have been taken backstage for steam-ironing and have been allotted to each of the model helpers. Then I must get the showstopper ready and check on the show rehearsals with the models, choreographers and stylists. My showstopper this season at the Lakme Fashion Week was Malaika Arora Khan. She was extremely professional, punctual and an absolute pleasure to work with.
